Back-to-school shopping can be expensive and time consuming. Spending hours in the malls and shopping centers, are not your only options.

For many tweens, back-to-school shopping trips are their first chance to have a true voice and opinion in their clothing selections. Here are three great tips to help your tween feel great about their back-to-school fashion choices.

Tween Clothes

Be truthful and firm about the budget for this shopping trip. Determine all aspects of clothing. Consider shoes, socks, undergarments and clothing in your back-to-school shopping budget. Direct your tween to your computer, to browse styles at stores in your area. Have a clear direction in what types of fashions are appealing and within the school dress code.

Shop

Pick a time to shop after you have eaten and are full of energy. Be focused when you start shopping. Guide your tween in picking out clothes, based on their preferences. Wait patiently at the dressing room while they try on clothes. Since tween bodies are truly changing at this time in their lives, they may need your support to feel confident to wear their favorite fashions.

Tween Girls

Make sure that your tween girls have the correct undergarments. This may be a good time to invest in camisoles that can be layered under T-shirts and tops. A professional bra fitting is free at all major department stores. Purchase boy shorts, briefs, or bikini-style panties in cotton fabrics. Try to avoid buying underwear made of synthetic fabrics. Cotton underwear will allow the skin to breathe, and can prevent rashes and infections. Purchase athletic socks, trouser socks, tights, and knee-high socks in different colors and textures.

Tween Boys

Your sons may seem to be constantly growing. Be sure that you purchase socks, underwear and undershirts that leave room to grow. Picking up a few things in a slightly larger size is a good strategy to keep up with their growing bodies.

Have your tween set out outfits a week at a time. Having five complete sets of clothes, accessories, socks, tights, jewelry, and shoes is time saving. This step alone can save up to a half-hour every morning.

Including your child's efforts in the back-to-school shopping can help them to become more responsible. You may be shocked by the pride in their appearance, especially in clothes that they picked out on their own. Use these tips while planning your back-to-school shopping.
