This is the time of year when most kids start feeling butterflies in their stomachs, as they anticipate summer ending a new school year beginning.

Parents everywhere are cheering. Kids are beginning to become nervous and anxious. What could be causing all this commotion? Why...it is the end of summer vacation, of course. Back to school is right around the corner.

Families will start setting routines by having kids go to bed earlier at night to prepare for the early wake up hours for school. Shopping sprees are winding down, if you started early.

Here are some great articles on Suite101 to help you make back to school a smooth and easy transition.

The kids still have a few weeks of summer left, so help them live life to the fullest with some of these last minute fun ideas.

  • Plan an end-of-summer party for friends.
  • Take a trip to the zoo.
  • Visit a relative that you have not seen for a while.
  • Go to a movie (and get buttered popcorn!).
  • Go to a big city and see the sights.
  • Visit a farm and feed the animals.
  • Take a day trip to the beach.

Enjoy summer while it lasts...because school is coming!
